Dr. Sean Park, Breast & General Surgeon

Dr. Sean Park is an Australian-trained qualified laparoscopic and general surgeon who works at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital. Dr. Park has a special interest in oncological breast surgery and consults at The Breast Centre in Newcastle, managing high risk breast cancer patients. This is in addition to offering a range of general surgical procedures including skin cancers, gallbladder, hernia, and bowel resections. He is also GESA accredited for gastroscopy and colonoscopy. With experience across a broad range of environments including tertiary centres for trauma and rural general surgical practice, Sean is passionate about providing high-quality, holistic patient care. 

After obtaining his Bachelor of Medical Studies and Doctor of Medicine in 2013 at the University of New South Wales, Dr. Park worked at Royal North Shore Hospital until 2016 before heading up the coast to work across the Hunter New England Network as a Senior Medical Officer and Surgical Registrar. In 2017, he obtained his Master of Clinical Epidemiology with Distinction from the University of Newcastle, and in 2019 obtained his Master of Surgical Science from the University of Edinburgh with Distinction. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in in 2022 and spent one year overseas in Korea, conducting advanced preclinical research studies at Samsung Medical Center. He is also a qualified medical practitioner in Korea.

Dr. Park regularly publishes articles in surgical journals, presents at global conferences and is a conjoint lecturer at the University of Newcastle. Also, he actively engages in further self-development by attending courses and conferences to maintain expert surgical knowledge and skills. He is also involved in education and training of medical students and surgical registrars from the University of Newcastle and Hunter New England Training Network.
