Your completed registration form, if you’re a new patient.

A list of all your current medications, vitamins and supplements.

What to expect at your first appointment
-
If you’re seeing one of our breast doctors, you should wear comfortable clothes with a top that can be easily removed. Please don’t wear deodorant, talcum powder, creams or jewellery, as these can interfere with your results. Bring your referral, any results, medication list, Medicare and health care cards.
-
Our reception team will greet you and have you fill out any required paperwork. Our doctors do their best to keep all appointments running on time, however due to the nature of our service, there are sometimes unavoidable delays. Please let us know if you need to leave by a certain time and we’ll do our best to accommodate this.
-
Patients seeing our breast doctors will meet with your doctor for a thorough clinical assessment and physical examination. This will be followed by a mammogram, ultrasound (if required) and fine needle aspiration or core biopsy (if required). You should allow up to two hours for these exams; our team works as quickly as possible while ensuring each patient receives adequate time and care for accurate results.
-
You’ll see your breast doctor again to discuss your results. If required, we’ll book you in to see one of our breast surgeons or our medical oncologist to discuss further testing and treatment options. You’re also welcome to meet with our McGrath Breast Care Nurse who provides advice and support for breast cancer patients as a complementary service.
Our fees
Full payment is required on the day, following your appointment. We’re a private practice so we don't bulk bill. Our service model is to provide all diagnostic testing to our patients in one day, with same day results. The costs associated with this model are comparable to those you’d incur undertaking testing at multiple sites over several days or weeks.
We have EFTPOS facilities and accept all major credit cards excluding AMEX. We can arrange payment of your Medicare rebate directly into your account within a few seconds after payment is made.
Our imaging and pathology services are provided by Hunter Imaging Group next door, and there may be a separate fee depending on your requirements. Please discuss any fees with Hunter Imaging Group should you receive an account.
Medicare rebate
Medicare will help pay for the cost of your appointment. If your details are registered with Medicare, we can arrange payment of your rebate directly into your account within a few seconds after payment is made, and you’ll receive funds back into your account.
Private health cover
You don’t need private health cover to see one of our specialists. If you need surgery, your private health will help to cover some of these costs. If you elect to self-fund, we can supply you with a quote beforehand, or we can book you into one of the public hospitals where we operate.
